I’ve been writing blogs for TennisNow.com for 3-1/2 years now, and seldom do you see a host of upsets like the ones coming out of the Australian Open the last few days. First, former No. 1 Ana Ivanovic came back from the dead to shock current No. 1 Serena Williams in the fourth round. The Canadian teenager Eugenie Bouchard knocked off Ivanovic to reach the semifinals at age 19. NINETEEN!
Today, Switzerland’s Stanislas Wawrinka, who has played his entire career in the shadow of Roger Federer, took out three-time defending AO champion Novak Djokovic in five sets to reach the semifinals. I put together a quick blog on some of the numbers behind the numbers that you can check out here.
